Acer AspireRevo With NVIDIA Ion GPU

The first computer system to incorporate NVIDIA's Ion graphics processor units...

Acer has recently unveiled its new AspireRevo Netttop featuring NVIDIA’s new Ion graphics processors.

The Atom-based AspireRevo will be the first consumer computer system to incorporate the Ion GPU from NVIDIA, and coupled with Intel’s Atom 230 processor running at 1.60GHz, the AspireRevo can “handle a wide variety of computing needs including high definition video, gaming, sharing digital photos, surfing the web, and other tasks consumers expect from full-size systems.”

The nettop will come with up to 4GB of RAM, up to 250GB of HDD storage space, a 4-in-1 card reader, and will come with numerous ins and outs including HDMI, VGA, Ethernet, 6 x USB 2.0, audio in/out.

The AspireRevo will be available in a svelte black and white enclosure that measures just 7.1 x 7.1 x 1.2-inches, and the system will run on Windows Vista.

“The AspireRevo is small and quiet enough to go anywhere, yet big enough to handle all the needs of your digital lifestyle,” said Gianpiero Morbello, corporate vice president of marketing for Acer. “It’s perfectly suited for the living room, because NVIDIA ION provides a brilliant graphics experience with digital photos, watching video, and playing family-friendly games.”

The built-in Ion GPU is capable of handling 1080p HD and Blu-ray content, DirectX 10 and some mildly intensive games like Spore. Dan Vivoli, senior vice president of marketing at NVIDIA said:

“The Acer AspireRevo with our new NVIDIA ION GPU is so small and powerful it’s unbelievable… “[You can]watch Blu-ray movies1 and HD movie trailers, or clean up jerky, dim cell phone videos for Internet streaming. This is the perfect PC for today’s consumers.”

While there is still no work of an official release date for the Acer AspireRevo, the expected retail price is thought to be around $299.
