AMDs Dragon Technology breaks benchmark record at CES, Las Vegas, and again in Finland....
AMD’s powerhouse platform, codenamed Dragon, has been breaking records by the month since the start of the year.
Dragon is a ‘synthesis of screaming computing power’ tunned to give ‘the ultimate visual experience’. The platform comprises of the new AMD Phenom™ II processor, the ATI Radeon™ HD 4870 graphics, the AMD 790GX chipset, and AMD software.”
The system is cooled using 500L of liquid nitrogen and 500L of liquid helium.
During an extreme systems demo at CES, Las Vegas, on Jan 10th, 2009, Dragon helped push AMD’s Phenom™ II X4 processors into the record books as the fastest system ever tested on the FutureMark 3D® 05 software – 44,988 3DMarks.
The Phenom™ II X4 also became the first quad core x86 processor in history to break the 6.5GHz barrier in a public demonstration; and the first to operate at temperatures approaching absolute zero – -230 Celsius.
The 3DMark05/06 software, is a benchmark suit designed to test the DirectX9 performance of your graphics card. The 3DMark score is an overall measure of your system’s 3D gaming abilities, based on real-time 3D graphics and processor tests.
Users can compare their scores online with millions of other gamers who may then offer or exchange ideas on how to build the optimal gaming system. So far the 3DMark06 benchmark database contains scores from over 8.5 million users around the world.
With the release of 3DMark06, the OC team, consisting of SF3D and Sampsa, decided to follow up the test and broke some more benchmark records, this time in their native country Finland.
