The world’s most popular analog synthesizer, the Moog, is now available in sleek but comprehensive iPhone app. The app is said to be the professional polyphonic synthesizer developed for the iPad and iPhone 4.
The iPhone’s multi-touch screen allows for polyphonic modulation and control using multiple fingers. It can also be connected via midi so you can use Moog’s Little Fattie, or any other midi controller to control Animoog.
“Animoog captures the vast sonic vocabulary of Moog synthesizers and applies it to the modern touch surface paradigm, enabling you to quickly sculpt incredibly fluid and dynamic sounds that live, breathe, and evolve as you play them…
Visually captivating and sonically immersive, Animoog brings iPad and iPhone based music production to the next level. Whether you are new to synthesis or a professional, Animoog’s unique user interface gives you the power to easily create a visually vibrant and sonically rich universe.”
Sadly, Robert Moog passed away in 2005, so we’ll never know what his views on bringing the classic sound to such a new-age device. But since he worked in partnership with Arturia to emulate the Moog for computer software, I’m sure he would have embraced the app with open arms.
Animoog is still currently still available for its 99 cents introductory price, but hurry, the offer will soon expire and the app will go for $10.
