The Gitmo Jump-Off

The Gitmo Jump-Off

Soldiers’ and Airmen of the Joint Task Force Guantanamo perform the Gitmo Jump-off...

The military is full of ritual and ceremonies to honor those who’ve succeeded, or fallen in the name of our country. But not all of these events are as formal, or solemn, as some may think, and why should they be? I mean what better way to honor fellow service members than diving, jumping and splashing around in the beautiful waters around Guantanamo Bay? None. And that’s the point of the Gitmo Jump-off.

Seen in the picture below, Soldiers and Airmen of the Joint Task Force Guantanamo perform the Gitmo Jump-off to honor fellow comrades who are permanently leaving Naval Station Guantanamo.

The fun water-based ritual simply involves jumping off the pier next to the ferry landing where their fellow service members will depart, then enjoying a little time amongst themselves before returning to duty.
