3D Explained
How 3D video works…
3D cinema, TV and videos are quite notably becoming the technology of 2010, you can’t read a magazine, flick on the TV or surf the net without being reminded of the wonderful plethora of 3D videos and devices filling up this year’s market.
Being a bit of 3D virgin, until the release of James Cameron’s Avatar, I’ve often wondered how 3D videos work – especially since noticing the 3D videos that don’t require glasses being displayed in one of the down-town malls.
After reading through endless tech descriptions of how 3D works, I thankfully stumbled upon this extremely simple, but very descriptive diagram over at onlineschools.org.
The diagram depicts the three types of 3D video technology, Anaglyph (old school red and blue glasses), Polarized (polarized glasses used in cinemas) and Parallax Barrier (without glasses).
So, now you know!
