According to TG Daily, Intel may be phasing out one of its new Nehalem i7 processors. While the company will still produce the 920, Extreme 965 and the brand new Xeon 5500, Intel plans to begin phasing out the 2.93 GHz Core i7-940 CPU later this year.

After less than a year on the market, the i7-940 will officially be unavailable as of September 4, 2009. The last non-cancelable orders will be taken on July 10. Final shipments are scheduled for December 4, 2009, and November 5, 2010.

The company did not provide any reason why the processor will be discontinued, however a quick look at the i7′s brief history may provide some clues. With only 4 desktop versions of the CPU available, and no interest from mobile or mainstream computer manufacturers, the i7 demands little of the market share.
And although the processors new architecture delivers power as promised, the i7′s time has yet to come, and Intel appear to be streamlining their range to suit.

A horrible web custom!
Imagine daily newspapers not printing dates. With Web it’s even worse, since these articles linger forever, while the newspapers are in the local dump already.

Horrible habit!
Imagine complainers who write criticism even before they fully review and do not even bother to leave their actual name/details! Even with a helpful clock icon and noticeable right alignment titled “post data and options” section, we find that patience and diligence is few and far between.
