Security Alert: iPad 2 Hack Vulnerability: How to fix the Smart Cover security flaw in the iPad 2 tablet
All iPad 2 tablet wielding tech-geeks out there please beware! A serious security flaw with the iPad 2 allows anyone to access your tablet by exploiting a vulnerability that has been discovered in the code that controls the iPad Smart Cover settings. Learn how this iPad unlock hack works and learn how to prevent your iPad from being exploited.
iPad 2 Security Vulnerability Hack
Here’s how the hack works:
Lock a passcode-enabled iPad 2
Hold down the power button until you see the shutoff slider screen
Close the Smart Cover
Open the Smart Cover
Following the steps above exposes the home screen of a locked iPad 2. From here its difficult to open the apps, but they can be deleted, and if you’ve left any apps running, the prying eyes will of course have access to those.
This hack works even if you’ve enabled a passcode, fortunately there is something you can do to disable this rather sneaky way of unlocking the device.
Head to the General Settings Menu
Disable Smart Cover unlocking
Of course this hack can be handy if you’ve forgotten you’re passcode, so if you’re the type of person who can never remember those vital digits, and never writes them down, then you might be better of leaving Smart Cover unlocking enabled and keep your private data storage at a minimum.
