Warrior UGV clears path with Anti-personell Obstacle Breaching System…
iRobot has released a modified version of its PackBot unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) capable of carrying various payloads and accessories including the mine clearing Anti-personell Obstacle Breaching System (APOBS).
The new bot known as the Warrior 710 can carry up to 150 pounds; operates in all weather conditions; climbs upstairs and over rough terrain; and can be equipped to carryout numerous mission objectives including:
- Bomb Disposal / EOD (IEDs / VBIEDs / UXOs)
- Route Clearance
- Surveillance
- Reconnaissance
- Weapons/Heavy payload transport
iRobot has recently released a video of the Warrior 710 demonstrating the use of the APOBS, a “rugged unmanned system that facilitates the deliberate breaching of anti-personnel minefields and multi-strand wire obstacles.”
The APOBOS is similar to M58 Mine Clearing Line Charge or the British Python, and as you can see from the clip below, the system is very effective.
