PowerTrekk Portable Emergency Power Source

PowerTrekk Portable Emergency Power Source

All you need to power your dead mobile devices is myFC’s pocket-size PowerTrekk and a splash of water…

PowerTrekk Fuel Cell Charger is a pocket-sized emergency power source for portable electronic devices, developed my Swedish company myFC. Portable power sources are to devices what water is to a Bedouin lost in the desert, and for that reason, I’m quite surprised there aren’t nearly as many solutions for emergency power as there are models of mobile devices, but perhaps that’s just down to the fact that most people actually remember to charge their gadgets, while I on the other hand, always seem to forget to plug in at the end of the night.

But for those who are on the move, or stationed where there are no electrical sockets, the portable PowerTrekk Fuel Cell Charger – developed by Swedish company myFC – maybe just what you’ve been looking for. The pocket-sized device is a 2-in-1 solution that utilizes a rechargeable battery pack and an accompanying compact Power Pukk fuel cell charger, that runs on water (yes that’s right H2O), to provide a portable power source for mobile devices.

The eco-friendly Power Pukk fuel cell charger can be used on its own, or to charge the PowerTrekk battery pack. The system can charge any USB chargeable device, and also includes an indicator to let you know when your battery is full, so you can disconnect and save power for the next charge.

By dropping a few table spoons of water into the Power Pukk, the PowerTrekk is able to provide an output of 5V 1000mA, with an input of 5V 500mA. The internal buffer takes place on 1600 mAh Li-ion battery, which deals with transferring power from its 4 cell 1000mAh fell cells, to your precious mobile devices. Although we might not be inundated with options when it comes to emergency power supplies, we have already seen portable energy solutions designed for the military, for camping and mobile homes, and of course for the everyday handheld gadgets that seem to govern most of our lives. Still, with little competition on the market for portable emergency sources, there’s always room for more – especially when all it requires to squeeze some much needed juice is water.

Ok, so that’s not strictly true, the PowerTrekk ‘Fuel Cell Charger’ does require the use of the specially designed Power Pukk fuel cell, but apart from that, the only extra ingredient is H20, and I reckon that’s pretty darn ingenious.
