Russia has unveiled its next-gen stealth fighter which is set to compete head-to-head with the U.S. F-22 Raptor and the F-35 Lightning II. The T-50 PAK-FA jet, developed by the Sukhoi Company in collaboration with India, is claimed to have all weather capability and the ability to sustain super sonic flight though repeated in-flight refueling.
The jet also boasts the latest in avionic and attack systems, along with the stealth capabilities to match Lockheed’s F-22, according to the company. The model seen in the video is only prototype without new engines or radar, however the Company appear to be on track for the jet’s deployment around 2015-2017.
The Sukhoi PAK-FA will replace the MiG-29 Fulcrum and the Su-27 Flanker in the Russian Air Force, and the crafts price tag of $100 million will make the jet a more affordable solution for other militaries compared to the $200 million F-22, however unmanned aerial vehicles could prove more cost effective for the future of surveilence and warfare.
