Samsung debuts its sliding tablet PC with full sized keyboard…
Samsung unveiled its range of tablet-esque devices at this year’s CES. Perhaps the most interesting of which came in the form of the Sliding PC 7 series tablet.
In a similar fashion to the Lenovo U1 Hybrid, Samsung hopes to bridge the gap between tablet PC’s and laptops by offering a touch-screen and traditional keyboard in one device.
The Sliding PC 7 series will feature the upcoming Intel Atom “Oak Trail” processor and will run Microsoft Windows 7.
Samsung and Microsoft collaborated closely to develop the device, and Steve Guggenheimer, corporate vice president of the OEM Division, Microsoft Corporation, promises that the joint venture will, “deliver a unique PC design and rich mobile computing experiences for our mutual customers.” [Samsung Press Release]
The multi-touch 10.1” display sports a 1366 x 768 resolution, and a brightness of 340-nit which, Samsung says, allows the tablet to be view easily in, or outdoors.
The device will be available in 32GB or 64GB models both will include front and back built-in webcams, speakers, 3G connectivity, 802.11b/g/n wireless, WiMax, an accelerometer, a 4-in-1 memory card reader, HDMI, mini USB 2.0, as well as a host of pre-installed applications optimized for the touchscreen display.
On-the-go users will be please to hear that the six-cell lithium battery powers the tablet for up to 9 hours, and Samsung’s Eco Light Sensor ensure you get the best out of your battery by automatically adjusting screen brightness based on the amount of available ambient light.
