Sony PlayStation Phone
Sony’s PlayStation handset is finally official…
It’s finally official, the long-awaited Sony PlayStation phone has made its internet debut on gadget blog Engadget.
Rumored to be in the making since August 2010, the PlayStation phone is now almost ready for release – save from a few software tweaks.
Many of the PlayStations specifications and features seem to be as previously expected. The phone will feature a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 with 512MB of RAM, 1GB of ROM and will run Android 3.0, otherwise known as Gingerbread.
The phone has a rear facing camera and the screen appears to be between 3.7 to 4.1 inches. Although the prototype model in the picture is said to be slightly ‘buggy’ and still doesn’t sport a polished GUI, Sony has already included a custom Sony Market place application where users can go to download games specifically designed for the device.
Button configuration is typically of Sony; one direction pad; Sony’s classic ‘square, triangle, x, and o’ buttons; start and select; two shoulder buttons on the rear of the device; there is also a multi-touch touchpad in the center of the device.
Another interesting feature is the lack of a Sony Memory Card slot, and the inclusion of microSD support (Sony, finally…Thank you).
The device could still be readied for released this year, however a 2011 release is looking far more likely.
