Sony ups its game with transforming Vaio Duo 11…
Sony has unveiled its new ultrabook/tablet hybrid, the Vaio Duo 11. The sleek looking machine boasts 11.6-inch full HD touchscreen, sliding keyboard, and stylus.
Under the hood the Vaio Duo 11 sports Intel current Ivy Bridge processors, up to 8GB of RAM, a 128GB or 256GB SSD, and runs Windows 8. Ins and outs include USB 3.0, HDMI, Ethernet and VGA ports, which means you won’t need any fiddly adaptors to when connecting it to an external monitor.
The Duo 11 supports a “unique pressure-sensitive digitizer stylus [that] gives the satisfying, expressive feel of handwriting directly on the touchscreen.” The is also a choice of swappable tips that allow for aosfter or firmer writing feel.

Unlike the Microsoft Surface tablet, the Vaio Duo 11 is detachable, but it does slid neatly away so the device can be used comftably as a tablet.
The device is 17.85mm thick with its keyboard – rougly twice that of the iPad and MS Surface – and weighs 1.7kg.

With a similar concept, but aimed at those who spend most of their time at a desk, is the Vaio Tap 20, a 20” desktop computer transforming into a lay-flat slate.

The Vaio Tap 20 boasts a 20-inch screen with a 1600×900 resolution and 10-point capacitive multitouch.The Tap 30 can be configured with an i3, i5, or i7 Ivy Bridge processor, from upto to 1TB of storage, and 4GB or 8GB of RAM.
No word on prices yet for either models, however Sony say’s they should be in stores from the end of October, depending on the country.
