Streaming video’s from the Internet to your iPhone – or iPod touch – is made easy with thanks to sites such as Youtube.Mobile. But if your favorite clips or movies aren’t readily available from a streaming website, you’ll no doubt find that keeping numerous video files on your iPhone’s hard drive is a storage hogging practice.

While the Air Video app might make great use of devices that you’re likely to already own, i.e. a home computer, laptop and an internet connection, a Sling Box Player will transform your whole home entertainment system into a streaming media center accessible from anywhere.

The basic Sling Box device links up to your TV, satellite, cable, DVD, Blu-ray or set-top box, then lets you access your programs or movies via an Internet connection. This solution is a great way to access all of your media including live TV.

Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that you will already own a Sling Box player, so you’ll have to fork out the cash to purchase one, the app will also cost an additional $29.99. But once you’re set up, you’ll be able to stream all your media, directly to your iPhone.

Although the SlingBox Player and its iPhone app cost money, the streaming benefits are undoubtablely much better. SlingPlayer Mobile is available for iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, Palm and Symbian operating systems.
