The History Channel recently aired a program called vanishings. It had some pretty good footage of the wreckage. I am a former submariner having experience with boomers and fast attacks. A couple of things got my attention. 1. the retractable cleat in the bow photo is in the up position, that is only up when line handling. 2 the bow hatch is open, in the documentary footage, no distortion of the hatch or locking ring. I don't know many submarines that operate submerged the an escape hatch open?

The torpedoe theory is bogus. Anyone who sees the subs sail will see a section is missing and is blown away totally. At least
200 sq feet of the sail is gone and one can see something hit it as there is a gouge where the periscopes are bent.

Ballard found the wreck of the Titanic in 1985, not 1995.

I guess he had this planned out. As soon as his confidentiality agreement expired he launched his book. I have not seen that book yet, but I know that Discovery Channel is working on a series about his experience as well.

I just read a new book called All Hands Down by Jerome Preisler and Ken Sewell that re-enacts the Ballard Titanic/Scorpion dives and was very exciting. It took you aboard the Alvin, and then tells the story of the submarine's crew and how they were trapped by the Russians.
