Great video clip, from the cockpit of a U.S. Military aircraft turbo-prop, of a naval aviator’s view when landing on a flight deck of a military nuclear powered aircraft carrier during a military exercise in the middle of the ocean.
Can anyone give us any information on the type of Jet this pilot is flying or which carrier they are landing on?
First off, this is not a jet, it’s a turbo-prop, second this is not a “U.S. Military fighter pilot” or an “U.S. Airforce pilot”, he’s Navy, aka Naval Aviator. Third, that is not a runway, it’s the flight deck.. nothing more to add..
Thanks for the update Aero
it cant be a very powerfull plane, the piolit doesn thave any oxegon.
It is a jet, most likely an EA6-B. The crew sits side by side in the EA6-B which is an electronics warfare bird.
Hey, Paul didn’t u see Areo’s comment? It certainly doesn’t look like a jet to me!
It’s an SB-3 Viking, the sound of the Turboprops alone give that away, The wonderful view also tells that story. NO HUD either.
I used to work on that aircraft in that particular squadron back in the 90s. It is indeed an S-3B Viking from VS-21 before they were retired, however, it is a jet powered by GE TF-34 turbofan engines. It is landing on USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) which is NOT a nuclear powered carrier. 10 seconds looking in google image search can tell anyone what one looks like.
